Solar array substrates for space satellites is a key product line for Airborne in the space market. These carbon fiber - epoxy sandwich panels combine an ultra-low weight with high stiffness in order to survive the severe vibration loads during launch of the satellite. The mechanical interface points are machined to high tolerance specifications, and the products are inspected according to a strict quality assurance protocol.

Airborne is a qualified as substrate manufacturer for ESA programmes, and the preferred substrate supplier for Dutch Space (NL) and Surrey Satellite Technology (UK).  It has delivered flight panels for several satellite programs.
