In umbilicals, an important failure mode is related to failure of the inner pressure hose. In today's systems, the pressure hose has no collapse strength which makes it vulnerable. Airborne proposes to replace the inner pressure hose, the unbonded fibre reinforcement and the armour layer with one High Pressure Line:

• The fully bonded system allows for the pressure line to support the liner both in high internal as well as external pressures, avoiding any liner collapse related damage. 
• The high pressure line can be manufactured such that the line has high tensile strength in addition to pressure rating.
• The fully bonded system is terminated through simple and effective end fittings.
