Specialist Engineering Polymers
As polymer specialist you are part of the process engineering team, that is responsible for development and improvement of thermoplastic composite production processes and products. You contribute specific polymer knowledge and drive polymer development projects in the field of polymer processing as well as performance of polymers in service. You are an experimental researcher, capable of leading new developments as well as supporting and improving existing processes.
You have a scientific perspective and a drive to deliver results, with experience in working in a commercial enterprise. This includes writing proposals, generating and analysing results, reviewing progress and reporting. You have a network in polymer science or can generate this through collaboration with universities, research institutes and suppliers. You keep your knowledge up-to-date, of the relevant scientific and technical literature on engineering polymers, to ensure these can and will be incorporated in internal development programs.
The job profile requires taking responsibility and initiative, team spirit, discipline, accuracy, and effective communication skills. You are experienced in and comfortable with acting independently, in alignment with team objectives.
You work in the Technology department and report to the Technology Manager. Your interfaces are within Technology, with Productionline Engineering and Manufacturing, and with the research specialists from the Airborne Technology Centre. Also your expertise will be deployed in commercial projects or other business opportunities.
Education:
Academic level in technical education such as Chemistry, Polymer or related subject areas.
Experience:
At least 3 years experience with polymers in research institutes or companies. Experience with fibre reinforced polymer (composites) and polymer production processes would be an advantage.
Competencies:
Broad knowledge of polymer science. Fluent in English (written and spoken). Proficient in computer applications.
